This is a portrait of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay politician elected to public office. He was assassinated in 1978, and has since become a heroic symbol for the gay rights movement. I chose him as the fourth hero in the "story" of the gunpowder exhibit, because he gave his life standing up for what he thought was right, and trying to make the world a better place for everyone in it. I depicted him in one of his signature moments of laughter, to reflect that happiness, and love of life that he always exuded.
