This is my depiction of the Japanese Flag. Mixed with the red paint is the blood of Walter Wiese Jr, a veteran stationed in Japan in WWII. I use his blood in all the Japan related pieces because he is my grandfather. In the red paint, you will find the many images: planes to reference the kamikaze planes, the country of Japan itself (with a hole burned through the canvas where Hiroshima and Nagasaki are located), and the emperor Hiro Hito's likeness. Burned in with gunpowder are the japanese characters for Kamikaze, which translates to "Divine Wind", or "God Wind".
